Dean Markley is not satisfied with making strings like everybody else. Their strings are different because they are constantly thinking about strings ways to enhance their sound, tone, performance, and playing life. Dean Markley continues to be a leader string technology, and has developed innovative ideas that change the way strings sound and the way they are made. Their Blue Steel strings are cryogenically treated, in liquid nitrogen, to enhance their grain microstructure for increased tensile strength and uniformity of string density and mechanical properties, over its whole string length. Hyper-Eliptic winding technology is responsible for their HELIX bass strings, with increased string density for more tone and power, and a smoother surface texture that blocks out contaminants that rob strings of their flexibility and vibrating characteristics. These are just a couple of ideas form Dean Markley that have proven to advance the state of the art in string design, and they are applied to guitar and bass strings. Dean Markly also makes traditonal and signature bass strings, such as their SR200 series and nickel steel series in 4-string, 5-string, and 6-string sets.
