You see above the entire selection of Elixir NANOWEB coated phosphor bronze acoustic guitar strings. NANOWEB is the thinner of Elixir's string coatings, and it is essentially invisible to the eye. However, it makes a tremendous differnce in the smoothness and feel of the wound strings, and gives then an extra long life. The reasons for this are explained below. The bare strings are treated with Elixir's ANTI-RUST Plating process, to give them similar performance and life expectancy, so they don't wear out before the wound strings.
Tone: Phosphor bronze strings are well known for warm tones and endurance, and Elixir makes them even more legendary with NANOWEB. They have a full bodied tone, with ample volume and power for dreadnaught and junbo guitars. Made with phosphor bronze alloy windings, they naturally have a warm tone.
Wound Strings: NANOWEB coating locks out finger oils, grit, and contaminants that can collect in the spaces between the windings and kill the tone and life of your strings. NANOWEB lets you enjoy your strings three to five times longer than ordinary strings, while retaining their natural tone and warmth.
Plain Strings: Even the bare strings are treated, with Elixir's Anti-Rust coating to prevent contaminants from sticking to them, and from killing their tone prematurely. With NANOWEB and Anti-Rust, you a set of strings that never gives up.
Why NANOWEB coating and ANTI-RUST plating:
Elixir NANOWEB phosphor bronze strings start with a solid string design and great materials and processes, to make some incredibly good strings. They go a giant step farther by adding their special protective coatings along the way in the process. The objective is to give you great tone and clean, smooth, long lasting strings.
Why Guitar Strings Go Dead:
The primary killer of guitar strings is contamination and the corrosion it brings. Guitar strings have a tendency to collect dirt, oils, and residues between the wraps of wound strings, which is not easily removed, in spite of our best efforts to wipe our strings down frequently. These contaminants not only interfere with the free vibration of the strings, they also leads to corrosion, which leads to loss of tone, and dull sounding strings. Elixir's string coatings form a protective barrier over the outside of the wound strings, preventing the invasion of contaminants between the windings. The plain strings are treated with Elixir's Anti-Rust coating, to keep them clean and sounding great three to five times longer than untreated strings.
