Elixir Strings, The Leader In Coated String Technology for Guitar, Mandolin, and Banjo
Though Elixr makes some outstanding acoustic guitar strings that have the tone, the feel and look, and the endurance of no strings that came before. Elixir strings are made form high quality materials, but they also feature Elixir's unique coatings to keep the fresh and clean for three to five times longer than ordinary strings. Elixir has two types of coatings for wound stings; Polyweb coating and Nanoweb coating; plus an Anti-Rust Plating treatment for the plain strings. Elixir coats the entire string, not just the windings. This has proven to be a better design approach to protecting strings form contaminants that shorten string life and kill their tone. The entire string is protected, so it lasts longer and sounds good the whole time.
Here's what Bob Taylor of Taylor Guitars says about Elixir stirngs:
Elixir Polyweb acoustic guitar strings are available in all gauges with 80/20 bronze wound strings and Anti-Rust Plated plains strings. Nanoweb stirngs are available in either 80/20 bronze or phosphor bronze, both with Anti-Rust Plated plain stirngs. Plolyweb coating gives strings a smooth and balanced tone, like the strings have already been broken in. Nanoweb is so micro thin it's practically invisible, and the strings feel more like uncoated strings, with a bright tone.
The key advantages of Elixir strings are their feel, sound, and endurance. Elixir strings last three to five times longer, so you don't have to buy stings as often, and you save mone. But the nice surprise is that they sound great the entire time. They seem to last forever. Guitar String Depot has Elixir strings for acoustic guitar, mandolin, and banjo.
