EPN22 Pure Nickel Wound Jazz 13-56 Electric Guitar Strings
Pure Nickel, Wound 3rd String
D'Addario EPN22 pure nickel wound strings are ideal for clear tone, especially cool Jazz. Wrapped with pure nickel, they have a warmer tone than steel, and bring back the early electric guitar sound that worked so well in Jazz and Bebop of the 1950s, when nickel was the material of choice for winding electric guitar strings. They have a softer and warmer sound than nickel plated steel strings, which became popular in Rock & Roll. Today, many guitarists are returning to the "vintage" sound pure nickel wound strings, as a refreshing change, to recreate the sound of early electric guitar, and for new inspiration. EPN22's have plenty of mass for good tone and a strong magnetic cross-section to drive your pickups. Even though they are a 13-56 gauge string set, they are quite easy to play, and deliver ample tone and volume with minimal playing effort. The wound 3rd string gives them a smooth and even sound across all six strings, with no abrupt change in tone between the wound and plain strings.
EPN22's use pure nickel, round windings over high strength steel hex cores. The corners of the hex bite into the nickel windings and hold them firmly, so they never slip, not even when you bend your strings. Round windings allow for maximum flexibility, so each not sustains an incredibly long time, plus they have great tuning stability and intonation.
