MXR M116 Fullbore Heavy Metal Guitar Distortion Pedal

If you want a versatile and powerful Heavy Metal guitar distortion pedal that lets you play like you really mean it, this one may be just what you are looking for. The MXR M116 Fullbore Metal Pedal is a compact and powerful signal converter that lets you unleash the most devastating contemporary metal guitar tones ever heard. The M116 Fullbore juices up your guitar signal with ultra high gain and combines it with a built-in Noise Gate to screen out the noise associated with extremely high gain levels, while also adding acute definition and tightness to the syncopated metal riffs you want to play. You suddenly have pure metal power with clarity like never before, that lets each note come through without over driving you amp to obscure you licks. This is possible because the M116 has loads of usable and effective controls, giving you a wide range of expression and distortion effects.

Extensive EQ controls include Bass, Mid, sweepable Mid-Freq and Treble knobs that let you trim and adjust your tone with precision.

The Scoop switch gives you an instant boost to both low and high frequencies, for a cool metal "scoop" sound.

Controls consist of 6 knobs, 2 buttons, and a footswitch, with accompanying LEDs:

  • VOLUME - controls the overall level of the effects, when turned ON by the footswitch FREQ - selects the mid-range frequency range (200 - 5,000 Hz)
  • GAIN - control the overall gain of the distortion effect
  • GATE - this button activates a noise gate that eliminates unwanted noise, and cleans up your signal. A Green LED comes on to let you know the GATE is ON.
  • SCOOP - this button provides an instant boost for both low and high frequencies, for a terrific metal effect. A Red LED tells you when it's ON.
  • LOW - controls the amount of low frequencies included in the effects
  • HIGH - controls the amount of high frequencies in the effects
  • FOOTSWITCH - turns effect ON and OFF; a Blue LED indicates ON The M116 has a True Bypass to let your signal pass through unaffected, when the footswitch is OFF (Blue LED is OFF). When engaged, you have a completely analog circuit path, for rugged reliability and raw power. Speaking of power,

Power: one 9 volt battery or a Dunop ECB003 or similar AC adapter, center negative, 9 volt DC.
